HOBY exists to motivate and empower individuals to make a positive difference within our society through understanding and action based on effective and compassionate leadership. To accomplish this, we strive to inspire and develop our community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service and innovation.
HOBY strives to not just be a one-time experience in students’ lives, but to provide opportunities to continue to engage them in service and leadership development. Through our Alumni Association and CLeW Programs, we empower alumni of our programs to bring together their peers in support of a cause that’s near to their hearts.
Since the inagural event in 2010, HOBY Alumni have volunteered at the annual L.A. Loves Alex’s Lemonade Stand event. This decadent chefs event brought together some of the best culinary minds from Los Angeles and across the country for a day of food, fun, and funds raised to fight childhood cancers. HOBY alumni served a crucial role as part of the volunteer team, making sure that the event ran smoothly and was a great success. Between ticket sales, donations, and a silent auction, the event has raised millions of dollars for the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, and the childhood cancer research they fund.
